History

During the 2019-2020 school year an Ad Hoc Committee from the Archdiocese of Hartford was established to study Catholic elementary education in New Haven to determine the best way to continue providing Catholic educational opportunities to the families seeking it. As a result of that study, and after a thorough consultation among the New Haven Catholic school pastors, a plan was created.

To ensure that Catholic school education remained accessible to all New Haven families, All Saints Catholic Academy (ASCA) was established located at 423 Ferry Street – the former home of St. Francis and St. Rose of Lima School.

As a result of this vision, the last three existing New Haven Catholic schools (Catholic Academy of New Haven, St. Bernadette School, St. Francis and St. Rose of Lima School) merged into one entity at the end of the 2019-2020 academic year. All of the students of those schools were invited to attend All Saints Catholic Academy. The best of the traditions cherished at all three schools formed the foundation of ASCA.

The benefits of the All Saints Catholic Academy instructional model are numerous: students focus on communication and collaboration; they engage in hands-on, project-based assignments using the methods of engineering design; students become inquisitive thinkers, problem solvers, and global citizens; and they learn how to care for one another, their community and their world.

In addition, All Saints Catholic Academy engages in collaborative partnerships with higher education institutions, providing students with the motivation and skills to succeed, while formation in the Catholic faith guides them to be valuable, contributing members of God’s world.

The philosophy of teaching and learning at All Saints Catholic Academy is based on the foundation of social emotional intelligence and a growth mindset, supported by a strong Catholic identity and the principles of Catholic social teaching.
