What is kidcare?
KidCare offers a safe and nurturing environment where students are supported by caring adult supervision throughout the afternoon. Children receive homework assistance, enjoy both indoor and outdoor spaces, and participate in fun, engaging activities designed to help them learn and grow. Healthy snacks are provided daily, and students have plenty of time to build new friendships in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Hours & Schedule
Days: Monday - Friday
Before-school Care: 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM
School Day: 7:45 AM - 2:15 PM
Afterschool Care: 2:15 PM - 6:00 PM
Early Dismissal: KidCare operates on early dismissal days and follows the usual schedule unless families are notified of a change.
pickup procedure
For regular dismissal, a parent or guardian should come to the main office and provide the student’s name to the office staff. The office will then contact the student for dismissal, and the parent or guardian will sign them out.
For pickup during KidCare, parents or guardians should go to the library and follow the same procedure with the afterschool staff.
If someone not listed on your child’s approved pickup list will be picking them up, please call in advance to verify their identity and inform them to bring a valid photo ID.
REGISTRATION
Families may register for KidCare when enrolling a student, at the start of the school year, or at any time during the year. All inquiries or registration requests should be directed to the main Office at (203) 777-5352 or at [email protected] with any questions.
SAMPLE DAILY SCHEDULE
2:15–2:30 — Check-In & Quiet Activities
Students arrive, check in with staff, and settle in with quiet table activities such as coloring, drawing, or simple brain puzzles.
2:30–3:00 — Snack & Transition Time
Students enjoy a healthy snack and have time to socialize. Those who finish early may choose a quiet “I’m Done” activity, such as word searches, coloring pages, or simple worksheets.
3:00–3:45 — Homework Time
A structured homework period where staff provide support as needed. Students who finish early may read a book or continue a quiet activity.
No toys or active play during this time.
3:45–4:30 — Enrichment Activity
Rotating activities such as LEGO building, arts and crafts, teacher-led projects, STEM centers, or read-alouds.
4:30 — Transition
Students gather their belongings and prepare for outdoor play.
4:30–5:15 — Outdoor Play
Supervised recess, games, and movement on the playground.
5:15–6:00 — Library Time
Indoor wind-down period in the library with board games, reading, or quiet center activities until pickup.
